About The Position

The Machine Operator III maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. This role involves operating various machines within a cell, making minor adjustments as necessary or notifying the lead or setup person for more significant adjustments. The operator is responsible for maintaining a clean machine and organized work area, performing preventative maintenance such as lubricating machines, and making minor repairs while notifying maintenance for other needs. The position also includes performing a variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, and transferring parts. The operator will use measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances, follow schedules and procedures, and adapt to cell and team concepts, including cross-training. Ensuring all safety guards are in place and in good condition is crucial. The role may involve forklift operation and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specification sheets, and/or mechanical drawings.
  • Must be proficient in precision measurement or become proficient through training.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers, height gauge, etc.
  • Capable of using hand tools (i.e. screwdriver, wrenches etc.).
  • Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Minimum (5) years of experience operating production machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

  • Performs preventative maintenance including lubricating machines when needed.
  • Makes minor repairs and notifies maintenance for other maintenance needs.
  • Performs variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, transferring of parts.
  • Use measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances.
  • Follows schedules and procedures.
  • Adaptable to cell and team concepts as well as cross-training.
  • Sees that all safety guards are in place and in good condition.
  • Assists other operators if necessary.
  • Inspects work in progress using equipment necessary and outlined in Quality or work instructions.
  • Responsible for quality of own work.
  • Forklift (i.e. powered industrial truck) operation.
  • All other duties as assigned.
