About The Position

Works as an operator in the process, maintains quality standards and ensures continuous improvement of the total packaging operation: palletizers, strappers, AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle), wrappers and dunnage sorter.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to stand or walk for 12 hours.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel, and climb stairs.
  • Regularly required to communicate with other employees and be aware of sounds in the plant.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to see close (at 20 inches or less) and distance visions (20 feet or more).
  • Ability to differentiate colors and good peripheral vision.

Responsibilities

  • Part of the packaging team members as an operator.
  • Working in a safe manner and identifies and corrects unsafe work practices.
  • Ensures plant quality standards are being met and maintained.
  • Runs a packaging machine or machines using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface.
  • Evaluates and improves skill level over time
  • Troubleshoots and performs adjustments to the machines to correct improper functions.
  • Assists with new machine setups.
  • Performs preventive maintenance.
  • Effectively communicates issues to the shift supervisor, and team members.
  • Attends and participates in Packaging Team daily meetings.
  • Ensures the department maintains a clean work environment.
