About The Position

Works as an operator in the process, maintains quality standards and ensures continuous improvement of the total packaging operation: palletizers, strappers, AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle), wrappers and dunnage sorter.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Regularly required to stand or walk for 12 hours.
Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel, and climb stairs.
Regularly required to communicate with other employees and be aware of sounds in the plant.
Must frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to see close (at 20 inches or less) and distance visions (20 feet or more).
Ability to differentiate colors and good peripheral vision.

Responsibilities

Part of the packaging team members as an operator.
Working in a safe manner and identifies and corrects unsafe work practices.
Ensures plant quality standards are being met and maintained.
Runs a packaging machine or machines using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface.
Evaluates and improves skill level over time
Troubleshoots and performs adjustments to the machines to correct improper functions.
Assists with new machine setups.
Performs preventive maintenance.
Effectively communicates issues to the shift supervisor, and team members.
Attends and participates in Packaging Team daily meetings.
Ensures the department maintains a clean work environment.
