About The Position

Responsible for all aspects of safe machine operation in area of assigned responsibility including movement of finished product. Schedule is a 12-hour shift, 4 days on then 4 days off. 7a-7p are the hours.

Requirements

  • Requires strong understanding of blow molding process and the ability to understand basic good manufacturing practices and guidelines.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Randomly check parts produced every hour, to ensure that customer specifications are met.
  • Places parts in specified relationship to each other.
  • Monitors flow of parts into assembling machinery, secondary equipment, and storage containers.
  • Tends machines, such as presses and crystallized which perform in molding area, according to machine (product) standard.
  • Works at different work stations as production needs require.
  • Works on line where tasks vary, as parts of various sizes and shapes move along the line.
  • Assists in training new operators as needed.
  • Check all finished parts for any possible defects (including grease, flash, punctures, and other defects).
  • Completes daily report of parts produced and any scrap parts which resulted.
  • Notifies Lead Person, Mold/injection Technician and/or Production Supervisor whenever items produced do not meet quality requirements, or if machinery need repair.
  • Uses calculator to arrive at accurate calculations of different production-related data.
  • Wears all required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintains housekeeping of work areas.
  • The Machine Operator has the authority to shut down production equipment if an unsafe condition exists or to prevent the production defective product and place product on hold if it does not meet the customer/company specification.
  • The Machine Operator has the responsibility to successfully complete the position training program found in the plant training manual.
