About The Position

The Machine Operator I is responsible for maintaining safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. This role involves operating various machines, making minor adjustments, and performing preventative maintenance. The operator will also be responsible for inspecting work, using measuring equipment, and maintaining a clean work area. Adaptability to cell and team concepts, along with cross-training, is expected. Forklift operation is also a requirement.

Requirements

Must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specification sheets, and/or mechanical drawings and in precision measurement or become proficient through training.
Computer literacy
Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers, height gauge, etc.
Capable of using hand tools (i.e. screwdriver, wrenches etc.)
Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic and follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Operate various machines within the cell
Makes minor adjustment as necessary or notify Lead person or Setup person if a more significant adjustment is required
Maintains a clean machine and organized work area.
Performs preventative maintenance including lubricating machines when needed
Makes minor repairs and notifies maintenance for other maintenance needs.
Performs variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, transferring of parts
Use measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances
Follows schedules and procedures
Adaptable to cell and team concepts as well as cross-training
Sees that all safety guards are in place and in good condition
Assists other operators if necessary
Inspects work in progress using equipment necessary and outlined in Quality or work instructions. Responsible for quality of own work
Forklift (i.e. powered industrial truck) operation.
All other duties as assigned
