Operates conventional, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines: lathes, grinders, milling machines, drill presses, and assembly stations to fabricate or assemble metallic and nonmetallic materials. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Standard Duties: Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions. Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications. Loading and unloading of CNC machinery or assembly stations. Packing out finished material into dunnage. Loading and unloading CMM/Measurement systems. Cleaning and organizing of work areas (5S standards). Move materials around as needed using pallet jacks, carts, etc. Read and understand job aids/work instructions/standard work procedures and policies. Perform required standard work steps within established cycle time. Visually inspect and assemble small components to quality standards. Use hand-held gauges. Use appropriate hold tags to process defective parts through nonconforming material procedure. Manually load, unload and/or maneuver materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves on foot and by hand as required. Safely operate all equipment. Must have the ability and willingness to be trained on and be able to perform all machining and assembly operations within the established processes and procedures. Perform minor machine preventative care, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or work pieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoirs. Support other departments as needed. Other duties as assigned.
