About The Position

The Machine Operator I role is crucial for keeping the automotive value stream running by setting up, operating, and troubleshooting the machinery used in the production of high-quality products. This position operates within a full layup-through-trimming production cell, ensuring that equipment functions smoothly and at capacity. The role involves maintaining equipment through periodic tests and repairs, consistently meeting quality standards, and managing the process from staging and setup to operation and shutdown. This hands-on position is key to maintaining safety, quality, and a smooth flow of production information throughout the facility.

Requirements

• One to three years of similar or related experience.
• Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

• No high school degree is required.
• Experience on the following machines strongly preferred, layup, consolidator, waterjet, trim, and/or press.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of running the machinery across our full layup-through-trimming production cell—from staging and setup to operation, shutdown, and housekeeping.
• Keep equipment running at its best by maintaining, troubleshooting, adjusting, cleaning, and handling minor repairs.
• Champion safety by monitoring the work area for hazards and inspecting equipment for safety barriers and defects.
• Train on production equipment and machinery in a safe, productive manner.
• Operate your assigned machine and serve as a backup across various operator positions.
• Accurately complete hourly quality and production reports, logging any downtime and its cause.
• Ensure quality by inspecting finished products, catching nonconforming items, and reporting defects to the right people.
• Maintain a clean, organized production area.
• Collaborate across departments to keep safety, quality, and production information flowing throughout the facility.
• Uphold a safe, healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and regulations.
• Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the team.
