About The Position

This position is responsible for machine operations and quality control/inspections. The Machine Operator I operates one machine and is responsible for setting up and running waterjet cutting machines to produce parts according to job orders and blueprints. This role involves programming machine controls, monitoring cutting parameters, inspecting finished parts, performing routine maintenance, and meeting production quotas. The levels of I and II are determined by the amount of skill and ability of the operator. Machine Operator I operates one machine.

Requirements

  • CNC machine experience required.
  • Demonstrated background in machine shop operations.
  • Ability to read and understand basic G&M code.
  • Basic knowledge of cutting tools and perishable tools associated with common types of machining.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run waterjet cutting machines to produce parts according to job orders and blue prints.
  • Program machine controls using CAD/CAM or proprietary software to ensure accurate cutting paths.
  • Monitor cutting parameters like water pressure, abrasive flow, and cutting speed to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, or laser scanners to verify tolerances.
  • Perform routines maintenance, including changing abrasive media, cleaning nozzles, pump rebuilds, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and cutting sequence.
  • Meet production quotas for machined parts.
  • Maintain a clean, safe workspace.
  • Other duties as assigned.
