About The Position

The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts. This role operates in a fast-paced production setting with an emphasis on safety and quality, and involves interpreting blueprints and technical data to select correct materials.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree.
  • Ability to maintain a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • High attention to detail to consistently produce quality product.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds and more with assistance.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, and near acuity.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in fabrication/manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations.
  • Understanding and following safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment.
  • Setting up and operating machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
  • Operating computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
  • Operating various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills.
  • Performing routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation.
  • Marking part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts, and attaching identification tags as required.
  • Interpreting blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
  • Maintaining continuous improvement practices in the work area.
  • Providing cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste.
  • Utilizing scanning equipment.
  • Inspecting work visually for defects according to Quality Systems.
  • Reading a tape measure, writing, and following posted schedules.
  • Working as a team player and keeping safety first.
  • Potentially being assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime.
