About The Position

The Machine Operator I at Jamco Products is responsible for feeding and operating the Prima Power E-break, folder, and/or punch press machines. The role includes setting up machines and operating or tending them to cut, punch, crimp, notch, and bend material according to Jamco Products’ specifications. This position is based at Jamco Products in South Beloit, Illinois. The scheduled shift is 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with mandatory Saturdays as directed by business needs. The wage is $19.00 per hour plus a $1.00-per-hour shift differential.

Requirements

GED or high school diploma.
Background in manufacturing or metal fabrication.
Power tool experience.
Ability to work 10-hour days.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, stoop, pull, push, assemble, and carry for extended periods.
Ability to lift, push, pull, or move up to 25 pounds regularly.
Frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Lift items over 50 pounds with another team member.

Responsibilities

Read work orders and production schedules to determine material, cutting or folding locations, dimensions, and tolerances.
Position guides, stops, holding blocks, and other fixtures to secure and direct work pieces, using hand tools and measuring devices.
Start machines, select the correct program for the desired part, monitor machine operations, and record operational data.
Position, align, and secure work pieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds or dies.
Measure completed work pieces with micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers to verify conformance to specifications.
Inspect completed work pieces for defects, sort defective pieces by type of flaw, and record defects properly.
Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating machines.
Grind burrs and sharp edges using portable grinders.
Use forklifts and cranes to move parts as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
