About The Position

Graham Packaging Company is seeking a Machine Operator I for their Mason, OH location. This role operates on a night shift schedule, from 6:45 pm to 7:00 am, following a 2-2-3 work schedule. The Operator is responsible for managing a set of plastic blow molding machines and associated in-line equipment. The primary goal is to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of containers through necessary adjustments and minor repairs. Responsibilities

  • Understands, follows, and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP, and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.
  • Operates a group of plastic blow molding machines and auxiliary equipment to produce containers safely and with high quality.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned.
  • Performs and/or assists in mold, insert, and color changes on the line.
  • Performs basic processing of injection and/or blow molding machines to improve machine efficiency and reduce scrap.
  • Performs tasks and responsibilities of any Utility position during slow periods and/or as needed.
  • Monitors HDPE/PET resin (if applicable), dryer, material handling, and color systems for appropriate processing conditions.
  • Conducts frequent on-time quality checks on products based on established quality standards.
  • Assists other Operators and maintenance personnel with mechanical repairs.
  • Performs assigned preventative maintenance work.
  • Maintains work area to acceptable safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Completes and files all required documentation in an orderly and timely manner.
  • Communicates with the Production Shift Supervisor to coordinate production line support staff in accomplishing the lines’ objectives.
  • Verifies material usage per standards.
  • Performs minor troubleshooting and programming on the line; notifies leads and supervisors of any major problems or questions.
  • Operates equipment to minimize the generation and maximize the consumption of regrind, purge, and scrap within customer specifications where applicable.
  • Properly identifies regrind and chunk produced.
  • Communicates processing information to designated personnel on the incoming shift.
  • Assists other Operators as needed.
  • Assists in the training of new Operators.
  • Limited travel may be required.
