About The Position

Empire Packing, part of JBS, is seeking a Machine Operator GL3 to operate production equipment and help ensure products meet production, food safety, GMP, and quality standards. The role requires precise machine adjustments, basic troubleshooting, and modifying or creating program settings to meet equipment, product, customer, and production needs. This position serves as a final quality checkpoint before products reach internal and external customers. The work may involve cold temperatures of approximately 34 degrees and the use of sharp tools such as knives. The description identifies the role as second shift, although the posting title references first shift. The position starts at $20 per hour.

Requirements

Must be proficient in General Production 2.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to understand and comply with company, plant, and safety rules and policies.
Must have a basic understanding of production and procedures.
Must be able to use knives, saws, and a variety of machinery.
Must be able to use both arms and hands to lift, load, cut, and package product.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Two or more years of production industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare the work area for pre- and post-operational activities.
Load, unload, and transfer product to and from equipment and conveyors.
Monitor production lines, identify issues, and supply or replenish packaging materials as needed.
Sort, weigh, wrap, label, verify, or measure products to meet specifications.
Inspect and remove defective products or packaging materials from the process.
Arrive at the workstation prepared to begin at the scheduled time and remain until work is complete or a supervisor or manager indicates otherwise.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Set up and tear down equipment and select predetermined settings.
Use proper lifting, bending, and reaching techniques.
Identify safety concerns or hazards and report them.
Perform safety checklists and operate pallet jacks, riders, or forklift equipment.
Perform Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
Modify and create program settings to meet production standards.
Make machine adjustments and troubleshoot equipment when required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
