This role involves turning and pressing knobs and buttons or entering operating instructions into welding machines. The primary duties include setting up and operating welding machines to join or bond components, loading work pieces into machines, correcting problems by adjusting controls or stopping machines, and inspecting, measuring, or testing completed metal work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications. Additionally, the role requires recording operational information, reading blueprints and work orders, and assembling, aligning, and clamping work pieces into holding fixtures. Other duties as assigned by supervision may also be part of the role.
