About The Position

Dixon Ticonderoga Company is seeking experienced Machine Operators and Trimmers for first and second shift positions at their manufacturing facility located at 1097 Ehlers Road. This role involves operating various machines to produce high-quality art and education products. The company is a North American supplier serving school and retail markets, with a history dating back to 1936 and currently experiencing global growth through its parent company, FILA.

Requirements

  • At least a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts, including some Saturdays.
  • Prior machine operating or trimming experience.
  • Enthusiasm about learning and building new skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using computerized equipment.
  • Basic math skills that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and calculation of averages.
  • Ability to read standard and metric rulers.
  • Ability to use light tools such as wrenches, channel locks, and screw drivers.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and problem solve in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to work individually and in small groups.
  • Ability to operate a computer and use Microsoft Office related software.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior machine operator or trimming experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a wire-binding or pad-making machine with a crew to meet and exceed production goals.
  • Operate a trimmer to ensure product is cut to correct size and specifications to meet quality standards and production goals.
  • Operate a sheeter that converts large rolls of paper into a usable format to support wire-binding and pad-machine lines and achieve production goals.
  • Be a leader in safety and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and system issues.
  • Perform machine set-ups and change-overs to different types of products.
  • Process, understand, and plan for orders.
  • Participate in training of other team members and improvement of own skillset in order to operate multiple machines within the plant.
  • Take direction from management, supervisors, and operators.
  • Complete varied tasks within the plant, including frequently lifting items of up to 50 pounds and infrequently lifting items of up to 75 pounds.
  • Communicate and work effectively with a diverse workforce.
  • Operate lift equipment, stand-up or sit-down, at heights of up to 25 feet, as needed.
