Under direction from the Production Supervisor, the Machine Operator A operates machines to manufacture a variety of standard parts and details to close tolerances and finish requirements. Essential functions include operating machine tools to produce precision parts, modifying parts and materials to improve overall production, inspecting completed parts, calculating dimensions and tolerance using measuring instruments, and operating machines, observing operations, checking dimensions and adjusting as needed.

Requirements

Machine operator experience in a manufacturing environment
Familiar with machine tools and equipment
Strong analytical and mathematical skills
Strong attention to detail
Exhibits the core values of integrity and accountability
Maintain clean and orderly work area, including equipment, and perform all assignments in safe manner
Demonstrates ability to read, write, hear and interpret documents and instructions from both verbal and written English
Ability to lift and carry of up to 50 pounds safely
Regularly required to sit, stand, stoop, crouch and kneel
Vision requirements include (corrective and non) close range, distance, color, peripheral, depth and ability to adjust focus
Comply with all company, safety and quality policies and procedures

Responsibilities

May operate multiple machines
Perform close tolerance machining operations such as centering, drilling, reaming, tapping, turning, milling, deburr at back side, file and/or sand
Operations may vary with approval of supervisor to compensate for variations in material and machining operations
Lubricate machines as needed with oil, grease and coolant
Will work from drawings specifications and job layouts using a variety of measuring instruments
Make machine and tool adjustments as needed
Obtain and return tools as required
Checks parts per specification and ensure proper forms are completed including part tags, process sheets and timecards
Maintain and improve insert and tooling management
May help and train other staff
Must be quality conscious and continuously look for quality improvements
