About The Position

The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts. This role operates in a fast-paced production setting with an emphasis on safety and quality, and involves routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment. The operator will also be responsible for marking parts, interpreting technical data, maintaining continuous improvement practices, and utilizing scanning equipment to inspect work for defects.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Cover and band stacks of wall panels
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and follows safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to set-up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
  • Ability to operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
  • Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting, with an emphasis on safety and quality
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation.
  • Marks part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts. Attaches identification tags as required for customer to have the ability locate correct parts.
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
  • Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area.
  • Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste
  • Utilize scanning equipment
  • Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems
  • Read a tape measure, write, and follow posted schedules
  • Team player and keeping safety first
  • May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader
  • Willing/able to work overtime
