About The Position

This is a 2nd shift position (M-TH, 4:15 p.m. - 2:45 a.m.) at Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems. The operator will train on the job to become proficient and certified in performing operations within a standard work loop, which may include coatings, grinding, hole drilling, or finishing of turbine airfoils. The role involves following work instructions, demonstrating understanding of quality and production standards, and possessing knowledge of machine shop practices, metal cutting, machining, fabrication, tooling, and the use of precision measuring instruments. The operator will work from drawings and operation sheets, using advanced shop mathematics, decimals, and fractions. Responsibilities include operating a variety of production machines, performing routine operations, producing blades and/or vanes, and conducting quality checks. This position requires shift work and the ability to work overtime when needed. The role type is Onsite.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Previous Manufacturing experience or education or Advanced Manufacturing Certification

Nice To Haves

  • 2 or more years Machine Operator or Manufacturing Experience

Responsibilities

  • Train on the job to become proficient and certified in performing operations in a portion of a standard work loop required in coatings, grinding, hole drilling, or finishing of turbine airfoils.
  • Follow work instructions provided.
  • Demonstrate understanding of quality and production.
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of machine shop practices, methods and techniques.
  • Has knowledge of cutting qualities of metal, machining, fabrication and tooling.
  • Work from drawings and sketches and uses advanced shop mathematics and a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Work from drawings and operation sheets and use decimals and fractions and a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Requires knowledge of machining methods.
  • Operate a variety of production machines.
  • Performing routine operations.
  • Working on the production line to produce blades and or vanes.
  • Perform all quality checks.
