About The Position

This position is in the Finishing department and reports to the Department Manager/Supervisor. The primary responsibility is to apply the proper finish to cloth.

Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Medium lifting required.
  • Ability to weigh and mix chemicals by percentages.
  • Ability to use a computer for tracking of fabric by process.

Nice To Haves

  • Tenter frame operating experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the proper finish to cloth.
  • Keep the blade free from strings or other foreign objects.
  • Change waste latex and waste water barrels when full.
  • Clean or replace scotchgard tips and filters when necessary.
  • Check on scotchgard tips to make sure they are spraying correctly.
  • Pin cloth correctly.
  • Keep the foamer clean and the soap tank filled to the proper level.
  • Flush out the latex pump, latex lines, scotchgard pump and lines at the end of the shift.
  • Clean out the inside of the dryer daily and/or weekly as requested by the supervisor.
  • Mix scotchgard formulas and keep tanks filled.
  • Give relief breaks to the exit-end operator and coater operator.
  • Recycle waste latex.
  • Mix chemicals for the different wash processes.
  • Clean areas around machines.
  • Line up buggies of cloth for finish.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers.
  • Maintain 5 S Standards
  • Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
  • Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards.
