About The Position

The Machine Line Leader (2nd Shift) is responsible for performing machine operation duties committed to meeting all customer and people needs. This role ensures operations are conducted according to the Crescent Way, focusing on Purpose, Process, and People, while building on a culture of Doing it Right, Doing it Safe, and Doing it Well. The position involves providing technical leadership, troubleshooting, training, and ensuring safety, productivity, quality, customer value, and financial responsibility.

Requirements

  • Experienced in packaging equipment operation or maintenance.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without accommodation.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be a US Citizen or otherwise authorized to work in the US on an unrestricted basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in cartoner, shrink wrapping, printing, labeling or robotic packaging.
  • Experience in packaging systems maintenance or preventative maintenance programs including setup, changeover, preventative maintenance, and basic machine troubleshooting.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Understands Standard Work and Continuous Improvement Concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe work environment is maintained and engage in the Safety Observation process.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance tasks are completed on time and correctly.
  • Ensure all equipment is operating safely and all line work and machine tasks are completed in a safe manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, leaving work areas better than found.
  • Continually seek out and remove forms of risk created by equipment and equipment setup.
  • Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Act as a leader in training for personnel who interact with or operate equipment.
  • Lead people to encourage maximum performance and dedication.
  • Perform tasks associated with setup and preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensure all line setups are done correctly, safely, and on time.
  • Look for and create Continuous Improvement ideas.
  • Provide first-level troubleshooting and machine diagnostics when equipment is not performing properly.
  • Be able to set up and operate auxiliary equipment such as labelers and printers.
  • Communicate issues and opportunities to the site Production Leader or Supervisors.
  • Lead Equipment Changeovers.
  • Ensure all equipment is operating in a manner that produces quality product.
  • Communicate any suspected quality issues to the appropriate person.
  • Participate in root cause analysis on quality issues and be part of corrective action development.
  • Provide consultation with Quality Leader and Ops leadership on all new builds to ensure “quality at the source” design.
  • Ensure the proper care and use of equipment – Crescent and Customer owned equipment.
  • Provide real-time support to customer trials, samples, and visits.
  • Be knowledgeable of the impact of equipment costs on Crescent.
  • Use equipment, support, and other materials appropriately.
  • Maintain the production equipment in a safe and productive manner.
  • Ensure machine is properly maintained.
  • Improve productivity through idea and implementation of ideas.
