About The Position

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Machine Learning Researcher - Narratologist to join its R&D Team, which explores potential new features for game development. The role focuses on computational narratology: developing techniques to understand and react to narrative text, rather than generate it. The position can be hybrid/in-office or fully remote.

Requirements

• Sophisticated experimental NLP background in academic or industrial research.
• At least 5 years of programming experience.
• Fluency in Python and C++ (or Unreal C++).
• Intellectual curiosity, ambition, open-mindedness, and proactivity.
• Ability to translate high-level goals into a plan, drive the work forward, and be accountable for results.

Nice To Haves

• Game development experience, especially in Unreal Engine.
• Relevant publications in narratology.
• Personal projects in machine learning.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build machine learning systems for complex narrative analysis.
• Quantitatively improve key NLP models by designing and/or integrating new models.
• Leverage cloud infrastructure for training and serving.
• Stay current with state-of-the-art developments in key topics.
• Present results internally and potentially at external conferences.
• Optimize machine learning systems for cost, latency, and quality.
• Facilitate deployment of results in demos.
