Machine Learning Engineer

Apple•Cupertino, CA

About The Position

Apple is seeking a motivated and talented Machine Learning Engineer to join its All-Scale Modeling team. The role focuses on developing end-to-end machine learning systems to solve complex physics-modeling problems for Apple hardware development and innovation, while contributing to technologies for Apple products. The position also involves optimizing kernels and designing advanced agentic systems for complex tasks. The role includes hardware prototyping work: designing and capturing schematics for prototype PCBs, guiding boards through layout, selecting and evaluating components, and bringing up, debugging, and validating boards. The engineer will collaborate with firmware and software engineers to test and integrate hardware, document findings, and present work to the team and key stakeholders. The posting also describes opportunities to collaborate with world-class teams and to share findings that influence roadmap decisions.

Requirements

  • Strong background in machine learning algorithms and engineering.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++ development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience deploying, experimenting with, and benchmarking models.
  • A B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in CUDA or Metal programming.
  • Strong background in numerical methods and physics, such as mechanical engineering, electromagnetics, or computational fluid dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop end-to-end machine learning systems for complex physics-modeling problems in Apple hardware development and innovation.
  • Optimize kernels for performance and efficiency.
  • Design and implement advanced agentic systems for complex tasks.
