About The Position

Verneek is an early-stage deep-tech AI startup building domain-specialized AI experiences. The Machine Learning Engineer will be a core employee helping build complex AI and natural language processing models for Verneek’s proprietary AI platform. The role combines fundamental AI research with practical platform development, with an emphasis on solving complex, socially impactful problems in a fast-moving startup environment. The position offers the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of AI, contribute to the development of the company and its culture, and support AI/NLP systems intended for real-world use. Verneek is based in the NYC area and describes its team culture as collaborative, energetic, and focused on AI innovation. The annual salary range is $40,000–$200,000.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience with Python.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience developing architectures with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
Demonstrated AI/NLP engineering skills through deploying large-scale AI/NLP systems to production.
Must have work authorization in the USA at the time of hire. Verneek states that continuing work authorization during employment can be sponsored.

Nice To Haves

Master of Science degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Experience in Natural Language Understanding, Dialogue Systems, Semantic Parsing, Transfer Learning, and learning with limited data.
Experience building models in the commerce or retail domain.
Working knowledge of Scala.
