About The Position

The primary focus of this position is to support operations and the Edge Andersen Equipment Solutions internal machine build group. This role is responsible for developing new machine designs and modifications, and generating 3-D CAD models to capture and communicate design intent. The Machine Designer I collaborates with others to ensure that CAD models, changes to models, and machine documentation are accurately and appropriately recorded.

Requirements

  • Associates of Science Degree in mechanical design or engineering.
  • Proficient in 3-D CAD modeling software, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
  • Proficient at print reading and tolerance interpretation.
  • Working knowledge of material characteristics.
  • Strong understanding of metrology and how it applies to machining.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong project and budget management skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • Demonstrates understanding of mechanical design and project management methodologies, related maintenance activities and their successful application as acquired through education and / or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support operations and Edge Andersen equipment solutions internal build group by developing designs for entire machines as well as modifications to existing equipment.
  • Responsible for all machine documentation updates and maintaining accuracy.
  • Participate and lead design and safety reviews for new equipment and modifications.
  • Prioritize work to meet customer deadlines.
  • Collaborate with other trades to generate designs that are robust and manufacturable.
  • Strong focus on customer service.
  • Coach and mentor other machine designers.
  • Know and practice respectful workplace behavior.
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment with minimal direction.
