About The Position

This position is for a Machine Assistant Operator (Die Cutter) who will work as part of a team in a manufacturing operation with the goal of increasing productivity, decreasing downtime and waste. The role involves supporting all jobs on the plant floor, adhering to safety rules and lockout tag-out procedures, and maintaining shop and equipment according to 5S standards. The operator will set up and operate a machine to produce product according to customer specifications, troubleshoot, perform minor repairs, and preventative maintenance. They will also train helpers, perform quality checks, and complete necessary reports accurately and in a timely manner. This role requires comfort with computers and touch screens, cross-training on other machines, and proactive equipment maintenance. The operator will also switch duties with other personnel as necessary and comply with the facility’s food packaging safety program, including annual training and reporting of risks. Adherence to the production schedule and recommendations for optimization are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Pass pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • Must be able to sit, stoop, and bend.
  • Ability to work any shift, including overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environment, with varying temperatures based on season, around machinery, and heavy forklift traffic.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and possess problem-solving skills.
  • Willing to work closely on a day-to-day basis with other production personnel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Work with a sense of urgency to reduce downtime of machines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
  • Comfortable with computers and touch screens.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team to increase productivity, decrease downtime and waste.
  • Support all jobs on the plant floor.
  • Follow all company safety rules and lockout tag-out procedures.
  • Maintain shop and equipment per 5S standards.
  • Set-up and operate machine to produce product according to customer specifications.
  • Troubleshoot, perform minor repair, and preventative maintenance procedures on machine.
  • Train Helper, as required.
  • Perform quality checks and take appropriate action when needed.
  • Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner (Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data).
  • Input maintenance work orders into BPMS software.
  • Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
  • Switch duties with Assistant Operator or Helper if necessary.
  • Comply with the facility’s food packaging safety program processes and procedures.
  • Complete annual food packaging safety training.
  • Report any discovered food packaging safety risks/concerns to the food packaging safety management representative or direct supervisor.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures (Safety, GMP, FSSC, ISO, housekeeping).
  • Adhere to production schedule and make recommendations for optimizing the schedule.
  • Report any unusual scheduling issues to supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or delegated.
