About The Position

This role involves supporting physicians and physician assistants in an urgent care setting. Responsibilities include patient preparation, assisting with medical procedures, administering medications, documenting patient information, and patient education. The position also requires maintaining clinic operations, scheduling tests, and performing telephone triage.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing and hold an active Florida state license.
  • CPR certification.
  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED or four years experience may be equivalent)
  • Must possess and demonstrate good communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision with an ability to exercise judgment and discretion.
  • Must have basic knowledge of Windows-based computer applications.
  • Must have accurate keyboard skills.
  • Must possess professional appearance and manner.
  • Medical Terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS & PALS required within first 90 days of employment.
  • IV certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • Two (2) years of experience in ER, critical care, urgent care, or Hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Summons and prepares patient for office visit.
  • Assists Physician or PA with medical office procedures.
  • Administers medications, including injections, documents meds given or prescribed by ordering provider as required by specialty.
  • Adheres to nursing policy and procedure when documenting in patient’s record.
  • Attends support staff and department meetings to keep informed of employee issues and concerns as well as organizational updates.
  • Maintains confidentiality of clinic materials.
  • Provides and reinforces patient instruction and education as indicated.
  • Accepts responsibility for reading and referencing new policies and procedures.
  • Prepares for daily business. Maintains charts, prepares new charts and keeps information current. Helps record and obtains results for cultures, lab tests, and radiology results per office protocol.
  • Maintains the integrity of the office.
  • Schedules x-rays, lab tests, process referrals, admissions to hospital.
  • Attends staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Identifies and evaluates patient needs by way of telephone triage.
