About The Position

This role involves assisting physicians and PAs with medical office procedures, administering medications, and providing patient education. The MA Specialist II will also be responsible for preparing patients for visits, maintaining patient records, and scheduling necessary tests and referrals. The position requires adherence to nursing policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality, and staying informed about organizational updates through meeting attendance.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing
Hold an active Florida state license
CPR certification
ACLS & PALS required within first 90 days of employment
IV certification required within 90 days of employment

Nice To Haves

Two (2) years of experience in ER, critical care, urgent care, or Hospital setting.

Responsibilities

Summons and prepares patient for office visit.
Assists Physician or PA with medical office procedures.
Administers medications, including injections, documents meds given or prescribed by ordering provider as required by specialty.
Adheres to nursing policy and procedure when documenting in patient’s record.
Attends support staff and department meetings to keep informed of employee issues and concerns as well as organizational updates.
Maintains confidentiality of clinic materials.
Provides and reinforces patient instruction and education as indicated.
Accepts responsibility for reading and referencing new policies and procedures.
Prepares for daily business. Maintains charts, prepares new charts and keeps information current. Helps record and obtains results for cultures, lab tests, and radiology results per office protocol.
Maintains the integrity of the office.
Accepts responsibility for reading and referencing new policies and procedures.
Schedules x-rays, lab tests, process referrals, admissions to hospital.
Attends staff meetings and training sessions.
Identifies and evaluates patient needs by way of telephone triage.
