About The Position

The MA Counselor/Assessor Bilingual plays a critical role in providing culturally competent mental health services to diverse populations within the United States. This position is responsible for leading counseling initiatives, offering direct therapeutic support, and coordinating care plans tailored to the unique needs of bilingual clients. The role demands a deep understanding of mental health challenges and the ability to communicate effectively in at least two languages to bridge gaps in service delivery. The Lead Counselor will ensure compliance with clinical standards and ethical guidelines. Ultimately, this position aims to enhance client well-being and promote equitable access to mental health resources across linguistic and cultural barriers.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related mental health field.
  • Valid licensure or certification as a counselor or equivalent in the state of employment.
  • Fluency in English and Hmong.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical counseling experience, preferably in a bilingual setting.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

Nice To Haves

  • Training or certification in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, or culturally responsive counseling.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data management.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including immigrants, refugees, or underserved communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling sessions to clients in both English and Hmong, ensuring culturally sensitive care.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor personalized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Do comprehensive evaluations on all age ranges across the life span, including dual diagnosis.
  • Coordinate with community resources, healthcare providers, and social services to support comprehensive client care.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and organizational standards.
  • Advocate for clients’ needs within the organization and the broader community to promote access to mental health services.
