About The Position

The MA/LPN provides medical assistance to a physician or nurse practitioner and cares for patients in a professional, efficient, and compassionate manner. The role handles patient phone calls and office patient care, and performs EKGs and CLIA-waived tests as appropriate. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Good working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
Current BLS certification through an ILCOR-provided course, including a manikin check-off.
Ability to maintain composure under difficult and stressful conditions.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with little supervision.
Tact and diplomacy in interpersonal skills.
For LPN candidates: a Licensed Practical Nurse diploma from an accredited school and a current Licensed Practical Nursing license.
For Medical Assistant candidates: certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent on-the-job training consisting of 3 or more years.
Good physical health; able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods, lift at least 50 pounds, and work with a moderate level of noise.

Nice To Haves

Completion of an accredited medical assistant program.
Two to five years of experience in a physician office setting.
Physician’s office experience.
Experience with EPIC (EMR) and insurance processes in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

Assist the physician or nurse practitioner with medical care.
Provide patients with caring, efficient, and compassionate care in the office.
Handle patient phone calls.
Perform EKGs and CLIA-waived tests as appropriate.
Maintain current BLS certification; LPNs must also keep their license current and maintain annual and continuing education credits.
