About The Position

Big Rock Plumbing & HVAC is seeking an M&A Integration Manager to evaluate, acquire, and integrate plumbing and HVAC companies as part of our growth strategy. This is an operations-focused role, distinct from investment banking, requiring a deep understanding of business operations to guide acquired companies towards Big Rock's operational standards. The role involves pre- and post-acquisition responsibilities, including operational due diligence, identifying key personnel and risks, building transition plans, and implementing Big Rock's processes and systems onsite at acquired companies. During non-acquisition periods, the manager will contribute to Big Rock's existing operations, improving SOPs and running operational projects to develop expertise in the company's business model.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of business or operations experience.
  • Experience in construction, home services, field services, or another operationally intensive business.
  • Experience managing projects across multiple departments.
  • A good understanding of financial statements and business performance.
  • The ability to work with everyone from owners and managers to office staff and field employees.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • The ability to identify problems and take ownership of getting them fixed.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and spend extended periods in other states during acquisitions.
  • Comfortable working in environments with different software, processes, incomplete information, and nervous employees.
  • Ability to figure out what is actually going on, build relationships, and move the company toward Big Rock's operating model.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with an acquisition or business integration is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, construction, or another skilled-trades business is a major plus.

Responsibilities

  • Help with operational due diligence before closing.
  • Learn how the target company operates.
  • Identify key employees, operational risks, process gaps, and potential integration problems.
  • Help build the transition plan before taking ownership.
  • Work with accounting, operations, HR, and leadership teams during diligence.
  • Spend significant time onsite at the acquired company after closing.
  • Help transition accounting, payroll, purchasing, HR, software, reporting, and other systems.
  • Implement Big Rock processes and SOPs.
  • Work directly with managers and employees through the transition.
  • Track integration projects and ensure completion.
  • Identify and help solve problems quickly.
  • Improve SOPs, run operational projects, and solve problems within Big Rock's existing operations when not working on acquisitions.
  • Become an expert in Big Rock's operations to facilitate future integrations.
