About The Position

Succession AI is an AI-native M&A advisory firm focused on small and medium-sized businesses with $1M-$30M in revenue. We are building a modern investment bank that leverages AI to automate routine tasks, allowing advisors to close deals three times faster than the industry norm. This role is for the first M&A Advisor hire, reporting directly to the CEO, and working closely with the founding team. The position offers the opportunity to run deals end-to-end, refine M&A strategies with AI assistance, and grow into a leadership role as the company scales.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of M&A experience at a Big 4 deal advisory practice, mid-market or boutique M&A firm, or an equivalent sell-side or corporate development role on small and mid-market transactions.
  • Experience with CIMs, financial models, LOIs, and closings.
  • Ability to focus on deal progression rather than just spreadsheet work.
  • Experience running live deals and managing the full lifecycle: origination, diligence, negotiation, and close.
  • Strong understanding of financial fundamentals.
  • Ability to build trust and relationships with business owners, including holding difficult conversations about valuation or timing.
  • Proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving and organizing processes.
  • Excitement about building a new playbook and standard for SMB M&A.

  • CPA designation is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Drive transactions from engagement to close, managing timelines and guiding founders through the selling process.
  • Engage with business owners exploring their options, build trust, and convert conversations into signed sell-side mandates.
  • Utilize the AI platform for valuations, CIM creation, buyer sourcing, deal analytics, and diligence preparation.
  • Design new processes and work with engineering to automate them, directly training internal AI products with deal expertise.
  • Build and maintain a network of qualified buyers, including private equity firms, search funds, strategic acquirers, and individual buyers.
  • Run competitive sale processes to ensure sellers achieve the best possible outcome.
