About The Position

The LVN provides direct nursing care to residents and supervises nursing assistants’ day-to-day activities. The role carries delegated administrative authority and accountability for assigned duties, ensuring care and nursing operations comply with applicable federal, state, and local requirements and facility policies while maintaining high-quality resident care. The LVN administers medications and treatments, monitors resident health and changes in condition, coordinates with physicians and other departments, and supports admissions, transfers, discharges, care planning, documentation, and resident safety. The position also guides assigned nursing staff, supports training and quality assurance, and helps maintain appropriate supplies, equipment, sanitation, and infection-control practices. The work takes place in office areas and throughout nursing service areas, including drug rooms, nurses’ stations, and resident rooms. It involves frequent interruptions, movement during the workday, contact with residents and families—including people who may be hostile or emotionally upset—and exposure to infectious materials, hazardous chemicals, and other workplace hazards. The role may require work beyond normal hours, temporary work in other positions, and callback during emergencies.
