About The Position

The primary purpose of this job position is to supervise day-to-day nursing functions of an assigned area, functioning as a Charge Nurse in providing care to residents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with standards of nursing practices and regulations, as directed by the Director of Nursing or Nursing Department Managers. The schedule availability is a 4/2 rotation schedule.

Requirements

• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in good standing with a valid license by the State of California.
• Must clear criminal background with DOJ and FBI.
• Valid CPR/BLS Card.
• Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activity programs.
• Have a sincere desire to work with the aged.
• Must meet all local health regulations, and pass post-employment physical exam, if required.
• Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and to work cooperatively with other associates.
• Ability to read and write in a legible and understandable manner.
• Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
• Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position.
• Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
• Possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
• Walking ability.
• Ability to distinguish smells.
• Ability to communicate with residents and personnel.
• Ability to read, write and ability to understand and instruct nursing services personnel concerning training and education.

Nice To Haves

• Charge Nurse or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct patient care, including administering medication, dressing wounds, checking vital signs, and assisting with activities of daily living.
• Maintaining accurate and complete medical records, including progress notes, care plans, and medication administration records.
• Communicating with patients, family members, and healthcare team members to ensure appropriate patient care and treatment.
• Supervising Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and other unlicensed staff members to ensure they are providing appropriate patient care.
• Complying with state and federal regulations related to nursing practice, including infection control protocols, medication management, and patient rights.
• Collaborating with Registered Nurses (RNs), physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Educating patients and their families about their conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques.
• Monitoring patients for signs of deterioration and intervening as needed to prevent falls, injuries, and other adverse events, including emergency disasters.
