Requirements

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
  • Experience in pediatrics
  • Ability to perform patient care assessments
  • Proficiency in medically related tasks
  • Experience in an ambulatory care setting
  • Ability to prepare patients for examination
  • Knowledge of reviewing current medications and medical records
  • Skill in preparing medical charts and recording patient information
  • Competence in administering medications, injections, or IV medications as advised by provider
  • Ability to provide basic patient care and treatments (vitals, diagnostic tests, phlebotomy, specimen collection)
  • Observational skills to document and report patient condition changes
  • Ability to evaluate nursing intervention outcomes within LVN scope of practice
  • Skill in maintaining patient care flow
  • Ability to answer patient and physician messages with provider input
  • Capability to serve as a patient advocate
  • Proficiency in reviewing MA skills and performance abilities
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control measures

Responsibilities

  • Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs
  • Performs initial nursing intake and prepares patients for examination.
  • Prepares patients for examination by reviewing current medications and reviewing documents in medical record.
  • Prepares medical chart and records patient information needed to support the reason for visit such as vital signs and reason for visit.
  • Coordinates prescribed medications, injections, or IV medications using standard process and as advised by provider.
  • Provides basic patient care and treatments such as taking vitals, performing diagnostic tests, phlebotomy, and specimen collection advised by the provider.
  • Observes patient, documents, and reports any changes in condition to the provider for instructions in taking vital actions for care.
  • Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes within the LVN scope of practice.
  • Maintains patient care flow.
  • Answers patient and physician incoming messages with provider input.
  • Serves as a patient advocate and applies appropriate resources to support patient care.
  • Provides review of MA skills and performance abilities using designated evaluation tools.
  • Performs quality assurance and quality control measures to maintain compliance in the clinical environment.
