About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), also referred to as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), provides hands-on patient care in the hospital’s Medical Surgical department. The role works under the supervision of registered nurses and reports patient care issues directly to them. The position is full time, on day shifts consisting of 12-hour hours from 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m., at Dallas Medical Center in Farmers Branch, Texas. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply and are discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

• Current and valid state license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
• IV certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record patients’ blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
• Help turn, position, and ambulate patients to prevent bedsores and promote recovery.
• Observe patients for medication side effects or adverse reactions and report findings to an RN or physician.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition, including changes in pain levels, skin color, or behavior.
• Recognize early warning signs of complications and report them to an RN or physician.
• Prepare patients for tests or procedures by ensuring they understand the process and are physically ready.
• Teach patients and families basic post-discharge care, such as wound care, medication schedules, and management of chronic conditions.
• Work under the supervision of RNs and report patient care issues directly to them.
