About The Position

The Mental Health Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) is a licensed professional who provides basic psychiatric nursing care, behavioral support, and milieu safety interventions under the clinical supervision of a Registered Nurse and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The LVN/LPT contributes to patient care by collecting data, implementing therapeutic interventions, administering medications within scope, supporting crisis management, and maintaining a safe, structured, recovery‑oriented environment for patients experiencing acute or chronic psychiatric conditions.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited LVN or LPT program.
Current California LVN or LPT license
Current CPR certification
Ability to adapt to changing patient needs and acuity
Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

Minimum of one (1) year psychiatric or behavioral health experience preferred
Demonstrated competency in therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and milieu management
Completion of Handle with Care (HWC) training within 30 days of hire
Successful completion of medication administration and developmental competency exams

Responsibilities

Collect and document objective data, including vital signs, observed behaviors, patient statements, and physical findings.
Report changes in patient condition promptly to the RN.
Participate in admission processes by completing LVN/LPT‑appropriate sections of intake documentation.
