About The Position

Health Services of North Texas (HSNT) is seeking a Lead Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) dedicated to improving the overall health of the North Texas community by providing medical care for the entire family. This role involves providing care, education, and resources in a community health setting to patients and families with limited medical options. The Lead LVN will serve as an integral leader and the clinical "go to" person in the medical center, supporting patient care in a fast-paced, team-based, collaborative environment within a non-profit, community healthcare setting. HSNT serves patients from all walks of life, impacting their lives regardless of socio-economic status, for a wide range of acute and chronic physical, mental, and social health conditions in collaboration with a team of medical professionals.

Requirements

Advanced vocational education required to obtain licensure as an LVN or higher
Current Texas LVN license
Previous supervisory experience in an outpatient clinical setting
Minimum of 5 year’s direct clinical experience.
Strong clinical skill set with ability to serve as a knowledge expert to other medical support staff, including serving as clinical electronic health record subject-matter expert, super user.
Previous experience with electronic health records, 3rd party providers, and interaction with pharmacies.
Proven ability to perform initial triage of a situation in collaboration with providers.
Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with Business Office Manager for the efficient and effective management of the medical center(s).
Knowledge of OSHA, TVFC, HIPAA and regulatory requirements for clinical practice operations.
Knowledge and understanding of Federal, State and private payor implications for clinical processes, including lab, radiology and referrals.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a pediatric, family practice, ob-gyn or internal medicine practice, a plus.
Knowledge and/or experience with OB/GYN/Family Planning related issues. a plus.
Bilingual Skills (Spanish/English) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Supervises clinical support staff, Medical Assistants to ensure training needs are continually assessed and adjusted based upon needs of the clients and providers.
Performs periodic audits of clinical documentation, process and procedures.
Provide orientation and training to nursing and medical assistant staff at clinical location.
Support clinical providers by completing vital signs, initial history/chief complaints, procedure set-up, etc. for the providers assigned patients.
Perform nurse visits for medication administration, refills, and patient education.
Perform phlebotomy using appropriate techniques and equipment, process specimens for shipment to the lab to ensure specimen integrity for diagnostic lab testing.
Transmit electronic, phone or fax prescriptions to designated pharmacies by clinical provider’s orders.
Manage and maintain supplies, pharmacy, including ordering and inventory. Oversee vaccine inventory and reporting.
Manage the OSHA, MSDS programs for HSNT medical center. Serve as Lead Emergency Response Team Lead, conduct Fire and Safety Drills. Maintain client records in compliance with HIPAA and agency standards.
Facilitate referrals to other medical professionals as directed by clinical providers.
Perform telephone triage as needed, provide clinical support with escalation of patient concerns from non-licensed staff.
Participate in Quality Management studies including reporting and implementation of clinical interventions to address the needs of the patients.
May perform other duties as assigned.
