About The Position

Under the direction of a registered nurse or physician and under assigned administrative supervision, provides care within the scope of the Vocational Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards. Assists in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Follows patient identification procedures, provides appropriate information for all patient procedures, and collects and handles specimens. Assesses and implements prescribed interventions for the patient. Implements and documents discharge plan for each patient. Recognizes that ethical/legal/medical dilemmas exist in the nursing practice and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical nursing decisions. Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment. Assist with the care and maintenance of department equipment. Complete and accurate charting of patient records. Complete and accurate record keeping of equipment and quality measures. Collaborate with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of care across the continuum, providing timely, safe and quality care. Responsible for providing a safe, HIPAA compliant environment for the patient and the staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Must perform phlebotomy if applicable to department. Molecular Imaging & Therapy (MIT): The LVN in MIT will also support clinical trial record keeping and review. The LVN applies demographic research criteria and reviews potential research patient charts using research inclusion/exclusion criteria, prepares charts and updates patient profiles, provides data as directed. Must be able to perform front office functions. Interventional Radiology: Assist with providing the patient and/or support person(s) with all required preoperative instructions to ensure a safe procedure, while also reviewing any questions or concerns to allay any anxiety that the patient may have before their appointment. The LVN obtains critical patient history and home medication regimens via telephone with the patient and/or support person(s) in preparation for their upcoming procedure. Primary Care and Urgent Care: Assist medical personnel with special procedures, minor surgical procedures and/or diagnostic exams. The LVN will process in office tests, collect specimens, and perform procedures within the scope of the Vocational Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards. Specialty Clinics Only: Performs specialty procedures that include catheters, injections, mohs surgical patients, and injection preparation. Will also coordinate home meds, specialty pharmacy, DME and home care. Will be responsible for coordination of complex care.
