About The Position

The Lunchroom Aide supports the Rochester City School District at various locations during the 2026–2027 school year. This per-diem position offers flexible, short shifts and the option of daily substitute work or a steadier long-term assignment through the end of the school year. Aides deliver bagged breakfasts and lunches to students in classrooms, interact positively with students and staff, help supervise students, and assist with keeping the lunchroom clean. Prior educational qualifications are not required.

Requirements

• Able to perform duties involving walking, standing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Proficient in English.
• Must obtain and pass a background check through NYSED.

Nice To Haves

• Professional experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Bring bagged breakfasts and lunches to students in their classrooms.
• Interact with students of all ages and abilities in a supportive and caring manner.
• Communicate positively with students and school staff.
• Follow directions from Café Supervisors or school administrative staff to keep students safe and supervised.
• Sweep floors, empty trash bins, and wipe down tables.
