About The Position

The Lunch Monitor position at Mount Pleasant Elementary School is a student support role responsible for ensuring a safe, orderly, and positive lunch program environment. The role involves supervising students, enforcing discipline policies, promoting good habits, and maintaining cleanliness. This is a 180-day position for the 2026-2027 school year.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers.
  • Physically capable of actively supervising and/or assisting students.
  • Ability to effectively carry out routines and procedures in cafeteria.
  • Ability to communicate with the school's faculty, staff and administration when necessary to resolve an issue.
  • Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with children desirable.
  • Prior experience with children is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follows procedures for an orderly lunch program.
  • Notifies the school nurse or office in case of a student injury.
  • Responds appropriately to student behaviors consistent with the school discipline policy.
  • Promotes and encourages good table manners, eating habits and common courtesies.
  • Ensures that students practice proper cleanliness in the cafeteria.
  • Promotes a positive cafeteria environment.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly environment for students.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the school principal.
