About The Position

The Luggage Handling System (LHS) Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational performance of the luggage handling system to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable functionality. This role manages maintenance strategies, preventive programs, and operational performance while leading a team of professionals. The LHS Operations Manager partners with airline stakeholders, and internal teams to drive safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Minimum of five (5) years of general maintenance and mechanical experience, including electrical and control systems
  • Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage teams
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, including technical documents
  • Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Eligibility to obtain required credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, U.S. Postal Service, as applicable)
  • Ability to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays within a 24/7 operation

Responsibilities

  • Maintain direct oversight of daily operations to understand shifting priorities and operational demands
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of the luggage handling system
  • Actively promote and support the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives
  • Foster a strong safety culture where safety is embedded into everyday maintenance and operational practices
  • Ensure maintenance team members meet established KPIs and performance metrics
  • Provide measurable performance expectations and hold team members accountable for delivering results
  • Regularly evaluate team development opportunities and implement structured development plans
  • Develop and implement workforce planning and human capital strategies to build a skilled maintenance talent pipeline
  • Collaborate with airport partners, vendors, and internal departments to ensure seamless operational coordination
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with all FAA, TSA, airport authority, and company regulations and standards
  • Oversee maintenance documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping accuracy
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
