About The Position

The City of Edmonton is looking for dedicated individuals to join their team as Light Rail Train (LRT) Cleaners. As an LRT Cleaner, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that trains and train stations are clean, safe, and welcoming for all passengers. Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Some cleaning experience is required.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety related to the use of cleaning products and chemicals.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate well with others verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret MSDS sheets.
  • Ability to follow WHMIS.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and a willingness and ability to learn on the job and update skills.
  • Committed to safety using Occupational Health and Safety and environmental standards and procedures.
  • Ability to work in an environment that may include heat, cold, wet, dust, and noise.
  • Ability to move physically, including bending, kneeling, and lifting, and use hands skillfully.
  • Ability to wear a face mask for a long period.
  • Conduct work in a manner that complies with the City's Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a respectful, inclusive, and service-minded style.

  • Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent).
  • Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit.
  • Must be able to work 8-hour shifts, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, with two consecutive off days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial, warehouse, or equipment, mechanical/automotive shop environment or car detailing experience.
  • Current Standard First Aid and WHMIS.
  • Experience with data entry and using software such as Google applications.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep and vacuum train floors, wipe down seats and railings, and clean the driver's area.
  • Hand wash inside walls and windows of trains, and remove items like gum and graffiti.
  • Wash the exterior of trains and clear away snow and ice.
  • Ensure trains are stocked with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain tidiness in train maintenance areas by sweeping, emptying garbage bins, and cleaning spills.
  • Report any train damage and lost and found items.
  • Assist the team with other tasks as needed.
