About The Position

The LPN utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care under the supervision of a person licensed by a State regulatory board to prescribe medication and treatment, or under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). The LPN maintains professional accountability for patient care for assigned patients, coordinates care with other departments, and protects patient rights and the confidentiality of patient information. This position is based in the Mother Baby unit at Mercy Hospital's Love Family Women's Center and works nights, 36 hours per week.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; comparable education experience and successful licensure may be considered.
• Obtain and maintain a current LPN license in the hiring state where nursing duties are performed, and meet all State Board of Nursing requirements.
• Hold BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or successfully complete the course within 30 days of hire.
• One or more unit-specific certifications may be required, or must be obtained within the department's required timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process to provide patient care under appropriate licensed supervision or the direction of an RN.
• Maintain professional accountability for care provided to assigned patients.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments.
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.
