About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse works part-time nights, 24 hours weekly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., on the 5 South Observation Unit. Under RN delegation, the LPN provides direct, patient-centered care, performs focused assessments, and supports safe and efficient patient flow. The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and collaboration within the LPN scope of practice.

Requirements

• Active state LPN license.
• BCLS required within 90 days.
• ACLS required after 6 months.

Nice To Haves

• NIHSS preferred.
• Phlebotomy and blood-draw skills are helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform focused assessments and report changes to the RN.
• Support the RN’s plan of care with timely interventions.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and the care team.
• Participate in hourly rounding and maintain patient safety.
• Use electronic medical records accurately.
• Update patient records and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Participate in quality-improvement efforts, including daily huddles.
• Implement physician orders within the LPN scope of practice.
• Administer medications via approved routes and document them according to policy.
• Use phlebotomy and blood-draw skills when needed; these skills are helpful but not required.
