About The Position

The 10E progressive care unit is a medical progressive care unit specializing in the care of diagnoses including: renal, stroke, and seizure with continuous EEG monitoring. The LPN performs specific nursing interventions as delegated by the Registered Nurse and/or Physician to support attainment of treatment goals and uses the interdisciplinary plan as the framework for care. They report changes in patient condition, feedback, and follow-up to the RN in a timely manner. The LPN obtains necessary clinical data from the patient, family, or significant other, and demonstrates competency in the administration of medications. They inform and provide information to patients about planned procedures and treatments in order to reduce fear and anxieties and to encourage patient participation. The LPN performs activities which may be delegated by the RN and/or Physician, including but not limited to: Venipuncture for specimens including blood cultures, initiating and discontinuing intravenous (peripheral short catheters), and inserting and discontinuing indwelling and intermittent clean urinary catheterization.

Requirements

  • Inpatient experience required or be enrolled in an LPN to RN program
  • Requires a high school diploma
  • Requires current and active license to practice as LPN in State of Michigan.
  • Must have current or obtain during orientation and maintain Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).

  • Inserts and discontinues indwelling and intermittent clean urinary catheterization.
