Requirements

  • Graduation of an accredited college/university nursing program.
  • Minimum Licensed Registered Nurse in state of practice, required.
  • Minimum (3) three years' experience in similar role, required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking the primary language of the residents.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to respond to computerized logs and notification of location of resident calls.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment.
  • Ability to operate general healthcare equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering basic practice nursing care such as supporting resident’s recovery, monitoring conditions of residents, screening and health prevention activities.
  • Demonstrating professional development and clinical competency utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate resident care assignments as well as other organizational tasks related to resident care.
  • Providing comprehensive and safe effective and ethical nursing care to call residents.
  • Obtaining medical information from the resident as it pertains to his/her plan of care. This is to include allergies, medications, medical history, or contraindications that may affect the plan of care.
  • Assisting physician or healthcare provider during resident procedures including the setup/clean of supplies.
  • Administering medication to residents using proper injection techniques and equipment.
  • Submitting lab requests as ordered by the physician or health care provider.
  • Completing orders as requested by the physical or health care provider including medication refills, prior authorizations, weekly food orders, etc.
  • Documenting care provided accurately and completely on the resident’s chart.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of supply orders and stock.
  • Answering signal lights, bells, or intercom system to determine residents’ needs.
  • Bathing, dressing, and undressing residents.
  • Serving and collecting food trays and fees residents requiring help.
  • Transporting residents or assisting residents to walk.
  • Draping residents for examinations and treatments and remaining with residents to perform such duties as holding instruments and adjusting lights.
  • Turning and repositioning bedfast residents, alone or with assistance, to prevent bedsores.
  • Changing bed linens, running errands, directing visitors, and answering telephone.
  • Taking and recording temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed.
  • Cleaning, sterilizing, storing, preparing, and issuing dressing packs, treatment trays, and other supplies.
  • Dusting and cleaning residents’ rooms.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
