About The Position

Oversees and coordinates patient care activities of assigned nursing unit to maintain and enhance quality of patient care. The role involves managing departmentalized budgets, participating in quality initiatives, and supervising personnel. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN Program OR Wisconsin: Have completed the portion of the RN Program needed to obtain a certificate of completion in practical nursing. Illinois: Have completed the designated curriculum of a Ladder Option Approved Designated RN Program.
  • Three years of LPN experience in a clinical setting, preferably with some supervisory experience
  • Valid Wisconsin LPN License
  • CPR Certification; Certain AHA courses such as Heartsaver or HeartCode courses do not meet Mercyhealth standards.
  • Good interpersonal/communication skills
  • Good analytical/interpretive skills
  • Good organizational/implementation skills
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties of LPN.
  • Revises, develops and implements policies and procedures and monitors compliance with the same.
  • Interview, supervises and evaluates personnel of assigned units.
  • Schedules unit personnel to assure efficient patient flow.
  • Participates in planning and promoting public relations.
  • Is flexible to work alternate shifts.
  • Manages departmentalized budgets involving staff and materials.
  • Participates in planning and implementing PI's and Quality initiatives.
  • May need to work overtime on more than an occasional basis.
  • Supervises Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; employee adherence to annual education and certification requirements
