About The Position

The Office Support Nurse provides initial patient care, charts patient information, educates patients, and assists the physician as needed. The role also includes stocking examination rooms and maintaining clean facilities for patient care. The nurse works with the back-office team to help keep the physician on schedule and performs clinical and administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be an LPN or RN with appropriate certification of licensure.

• Ability to work as part of the back-office team and be accountable.
• Knowledge of the proper use of medical and laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform trauma assessments.
• Triage patient calls.
• Obtain and chart patients’ vital statistics and injections.
• Provide patient instructions and educational materials.
• Make and chart appointments for out-of-office examinations.
• Call patients with test results.
• Perform nebulizer treatments, spirometry, ear lavage, and catheterization as needed.
• Order procedures and laboratory tests as directed by the physician.
• Assist the physician, including attending pelvic and breast examinations and minor procedures.
• Keep the physician informed of the daily schedule.
• Dispense oral or injectable medications at the physician’s direction.
• Provide educational leadership to LPN and MOA staff.
• Complete encounter forms.
• Clean and supply patient rooms.
• Wrap and autoclave clean instruments.
• Prepare laundry for pickup.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned by the Nursing Supervisor, such as preparing the ER kit, skin/joint tray, or ENT/eye tray.
