This document describes the general nature and level of work performed by an LPN or RN in pediatrics. The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to patients who present with urgent, emergent, or potential health problems; utilizes knowledge of basic nursing principles, practices and ethics; participates in the organization and management of the physician's practice. The RN provides expert professional nursing care; assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care rendered to patients with urgent, emergent, or potential health problems; and, participates in the management of the department.
