About The Position

We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a Medical-Surgical unit. This is a 13-week contract position with a shift of 7 PM - 7 AM (or 7 AM - 7 PM). The unit handles complex care for medicine patients, ortho overflow, and long-term patients. The LPN will be responsible for taking their own patient assignments with RN support. Experience with EPIC charting is required. This position requires availability to work every other weekend and potentially every other holiday. Floating within skillset may be required.

Requirements

• Active New York Single State LPN license
• BLS certification
• EPIC experience required
• Acute Care experience within the last 2 years
• Must be able to take own patient assignment, with the support of an RN

Responsibilities

• Take own patient assignment with the support of an RN
• Administer blood products
• Provide central line care/management
• Provide peripheral line care/management
• Perform phlebotomy
• Manage PICC lines
• Start and maintain IVs
• Administer High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Administer Nasal Cannula oxygen
• Administer oxygen via oxygen tanks
• Provide trach care/management
• Provide feeding tube care/management
• Manage patients on Heparin Protocols
• Monitor patients with Pacemakers/Temp/Perm
• Monitor patients via Telemetry on the unit
• Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams
• Implement Isolation Precautions
• Perform Wound Care/Wound Vac
• Manage MS/Tele patients
• Care for Ortho trauma patients
• Care for Total Joint Replacements
• Manage Surgical drains
• Float within skillset as needed
