About The Position

Essentia Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse, Certified Medical Assistant, or Clinic Care Technician to serve in our endocrinology practice at South University Clinic in Fargo, North Dakota. This LPN, CMA, or CCT works 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. No weekend, holiday, or on-call rotations are required. Education Qualifications: Education as required for licensure.

Requirements

  • A North Dakota LPN license is required upon hire.
  • A Minnesota LPN license is required within 3 months of hire.
  • Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant OR verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program and must become certified within one year of date of hire.
  • Must be registered as a Medication Assistant III through the North Dakota Board of Nursing within 60 days of hire/transfer.
  • Clinical Assistant can NOT administer medication prior to being registered as a MAIII through the ND BON.
  • AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required within 3 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Experience in healthcare, patient care, electronic medical records (EMR), and/or medical terminology is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Must pass certification within two attempts.

Responsibilities

  • Assists RN, Physician and other providers and provides direct patient care in the ambulatory and/or home care setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.
  • Will perform identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated.
  • Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age-related category.
  • The Clinic Care Technician is primarily responsible for providing assistance with daily patient flow in the clinic setting.
  • These duties may include greeting and rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, documenting in patient chart, stocking, and cleaning exam room, ordering and maintaining clinic supplies, assisting with clerical duties, and all other duties as assigned.
  • This position may float to support other areas as assigned.
  • Supports and assists providers and clinical staff with administrative and select patient care tasks
  • Supports patient scheduling and work queue needs as assigned
  • Follows up on no-shows and works with providers to review and approve add-ons
  • Greets patients, supports virtual visits, completes identification verification, height, weight and obtains vitals
  • Chaperones exams as needed
  • Administers questionnaires and documents in electronic medical record
  • May perform limited patient care tasks based on training
  • Processes incoming mail, scans, copies, and faxes as needed, prints and updates forms, answers internal phone calls, and may place office supply orders
