About The Position

Team Health and Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an excellent opportunity for a Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN) at Logan County Jail in Bellefountaine, Ohio. The LPN will be providing Correctional Medical care for those housed at at the Shelby County Jail. This position offers a full-time schedule with 12-hour shifts from 7 am to 7 pm, including every other weekend, serving an adult population. The role involves providing a range of medical care, including primary, addiction, urgent, and behavioral health care. The work is evidence-based, focusing on needs rather than wants, and offers a unique opportunity to treat a vast array of medical pathologies not typically seen in other healthcare settings. This position is socially meaningful, serving a marginalized population that often lacks ordinary access to medical care due to lack of insurance, mental illness, or homelessness. The role provides a large degree of medical autonomy and is free from micromanaging, with extensive nursing guidelines in place. It is considered safer than most other healthcare settings due to strict rules regarding weapons, the handling of controversial inmates by correctional staff, and the ability to stop and restart visits. Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by a state agency or accredited by the ACEN
  • A minimum of 12 months of experience in a primary care setting within the last 24 months
  • Active, unrestricted OH LPN license
  • BLS from the American Heart Association
